iEngage: Together and Apart (Hartman Institute Class)

invites you to Hartman Institute class, facilitated by Rabbi Salston, entitled:
iEngage: Together & Apart - The Future of Jewish Peoplehood
(This Class Will Be Offered Virtually and In-Person)

Today we face new challenges to our unity including nationalism, antisemitism, dual loyalty, and identity politics. Through video lectures, interviews, and textual sources, this course will explore what it means to be a member of the Jewish people, what core values animate Jewish peoplehood, what are the contemporary challenges to Jewish unity, and what conceptual frameworks can help sustain and grow the story of our people for a new millennium.

This program will feature 7 monthly sessions over the course of this year. The 2-hour multimedia learning sessions will include video presentations from faculty at the Shalom Hartman Institute, leading rabbis, public figures, and intellectuals. 

Monday, November 28, 8:00-10:00 PM: Unit 1 - From No Home to Two Homes (Completed)
Sunday, December 11th, 1-3 PM: Unit 2 -The Judaism of Being
Monday, January 16th, 8-10 PM: Unit 3 - The Judaism of Becoming
Sunday, February 12th, 1-3 PM: Unit 4 - On Universalism and Particularism
Monday, March 13th, 8-10 PM: Unit 5 - Between Nationalism, Ultra-Nationalism, and Fascism
Sunday, April 23rd, 1-3 PM: Unit 6 - The Moral Implications of Jewish Nationalism
Monday, May 15th, 8-10 PM: Unit 7 - The Israeli Nation-State Law

There is a suggested donation of $10 to cover the printing of source materials that will be used in th classroom, or you can purchase a bound copy of the source materials for the full 14-sessions (we will hold the second-half of the curriculum next year) for $15.
